Alexandra Brockdorf, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Memphis. She completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in quantitative methods at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She completed her predoctoral internship on the Traumatic Stress Track of the Charleston Consortium Psychology Internship Program, as well as a NIMH-funded postdoctoral fellowship through the National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Brockdorf's research focuses on behavioral health risk and recovery after trauma, with an emphasis on sexual assault. She is particularly interested in the connection between modifiable health behaviors (e.g., alcohol use, sleep) and traumatic stress, with the aim of identifying novel targets for clinical interventions. She also studies 1) sexual assault prevention, 2) access to care and barriers to service use after sexual assault, and 3) how alcohol intersects with each of these domains. Dr. Brockdorf's research has been funded through NIAAA, NIMH, and APA.
